Improving safety and upgrading facilities at White Flat Recreation Reserve

This project will deliver a range of sporting facility upgrades and installation of community safety infrastructure to improve sporting amenity and safety at the White Flat Recreation Reserve.

The project will provide female-friendly changerooms, umpires' changerooms and amenities, public toilets and shower facilities, kitchen and servery, and multi-use change and social space facilities at the Reserve.

Community safety will be enhanced with the installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), lighting, landscaping, pathways and signage.

This project is funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program and the City of Ballarat. This project aims to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and improve perceptions of safety in and around the Reserve.

Building better sporting infrastructure at White Flat Recreation Reserve

The White Flat female-friendly changeroom upgrade is being delivered by the City of Ballarat in partnership with the Victoria Government.

The project will include refurbished changerooms and supporting areas to support sports, including AFL, cricket and athletics. The upgrade will ensure the facilities meet the AFL-preferred facilities guidelines for local level facilities.

The upgrade will include:

  • Female-friendly changerooms, umpires' changerooms and amenities
  • Public toilets and showers
  • A kitchen and servery
  • A multi-use change and social space

Project underway

  • The White Flat amenity building refurbishment contract has been awarded by the City of Ballarat after an open tender process
  • Asbestos removal began Monday 3 December on-site
  • Planned demolition of the interior of the building will begin prior to Christmas. As a construction site, the area around the building will be fenced
  • There will be no further use of the building until scoped refurbishment works are completed. This project is due for completion in about April/May 2019.

    Adults who live or work near the reserve are invited to complete the survey. It should take about 15 minutes.
