The City of Ballarat is refreshing the Active Ballarat Strategy to support a healthier, more active community.

This Strategy focuses on how we can activate our community by encouraging greater use of our recreation facilities, parks, trails and open spaces. The Strategy looks beyond infrastructure and will explore ways of creating inclusive and accessible programs and participation opportunities for everyone, and those partnerships needed to facilitate activities.

Your feedback will help us understand local participation trends, programming capacity and opportunities, barriers to growth, and how inclusive and accessible club and association opportunities are across the City of Ballarat. The results will inform future planning, partnerships, programs and investment to strengthen clubs and support active living for people of all ages and abilities.

This activation strategy complements the adopted Recreation Infrastructure Plan and the Open Space Strategy, which is under development. The Recreation Infrastructure Plan 2024 focuses on the planning, provision and improvement of our sport and recreation facilities. The Open Space Strategy will focus on the planning, provision and improvement of open spaces such as our parks and gardens.
