The City of Ballarat have identified three key areas for urban renewal: the Ballarat CBD, La Trobe Street and Wendouree Station precincts.

Council adopted the commemorative name Colquhoun Lane on 10 December 2025. The adopted name will now be lodged with Geographic Names Victoria.
