The City of Ballarat manages a wide range of land and buildings on behalf of the community.
As part of Council’s long-term planning and asset management responsibilities, land and buildings are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to:
- Meet current and future community needs
- Support the delivery of services and infrastructure
- Be used effectively and responsibly
- Provide value to the community
As Ballarat grows and changes, some land may become underutilised or no longer required for its original purpose. In these cases, Council may review whether land should be retained, repurposed, or considered surplus to Council’s needs.
Council is now seeking community feedback on several vacant land parcels currently under review.

We want to understand how these sites may best support Ballarat’s future needs and hear local perspectives before any decisions are made.
You can:
- Share your views on whether land should be retained, repurposed or sold
- Suggest future uses or opportunities for the land
- Provide local knowledge about the site or surrounding area
- Tell us if there is a strong reason the land should remain as it is
Community feedback will help inform Council’s next steps and consideration of each site.
