Help Us Understand Safety in Ballarat’s Public Spaces

We’re inviting community feedback to help us better understand where people in Ballarat feel safe - or unsafe - and why.

This is an ongoing project, which we will actively promote twice a year. Community input will be collated into an annual report, which we’ll share publicly on this page. Your feedback will help shape Ballarat City Council decisions, advocacy efforts, and future planning to better respond to community safety needs - especially in specific locations across the city.

If you have already reported a specific council facility or have engaged with the City of Ballarat in any other capacity regarding the safety of a location or space, please note that those areas or facilities are being reviewed.

Relevant data will be shared with the Ballarat Community Safety Alliance and Council teams to support the creation of safer and more welcoming public places across our city.

The initiative to develop the Safer Ballarat Community Safety Mapping Tool delivers on a key action within the Council Plan 2025-2029 to deliver a community safety mapping platform.

Community safety was also identified as a key theme in developing the Community Vision 2025-2035, which drew on feedback gathered from randomly selected community members earlier in 2025.

Please note: This project is not designed to address immediate safety concerns. For urgent issues or hazards, please use the ‘Useful links and resources’ section on this page to:
