Project updates

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your views and provide your feedback and insights to help us better understand your transport needs and experiences. We had over 200 contributions from the community for this study.

We have now received the draft report and are in the process of finalising the project report and analysis. Further work is currently being undertaken, and we will share the outcomes with the community by February 2026.

The Department of Transport has recently announced their review of the Ballarat Bus Network. The City of Ballarat will be sharing the information and community feedback collected through this engagement, Ageing Well in Ballarat-Transport Study, particularly in relation to public transport and buses with the Department. Insights shared through this Ageing Well in Ballarat - Transport Study have also been included in the City of Ballarat's submission to the Ballarat Bus Network review.

More information about the Bus Network review in Ballarat is available here: Ballarat Bus Network Review | Engage Victoria

We want to ensure Ballarat is an age-friendly community. And we know that access to transport can be a significant barrier for many in our community, especially as we get older.

That’s why we are partnering with Movement & Place Consulting to help explore the transport needs of older people in Ballarat.

Are you over 55 years, or a carer or family member of an older person?

We want to find out more about:

  • how you currently move around our city
  • your experiences in using the various transport options available
  • any travel challenges or barriers you may experience

This will help us to increase our understanding of the transport needs of older people in Ballarat and to help inform potential future projects, planning and to support our advocacy efforts.
