What's happening?

A BMX track will be built in Alfredton.

It is planned for construction of the BMX track to be complete by June 2021 and funding for this project will be provided by Council.

As part of an audit of community infrastructure the Alfredton BMX project has been fast tracked. This is in response to community need and to align with timings of other upgrades currently being delivered in Alfredton. The need for the project was identified in the Skate and Tween/Teen facilities framework.

Stage 1: Completed

The first stage of the project was to identify a location. Community members have been encouraged to vote for their preferred location from a list of potential sites.

Alfredton Recreation Reserve was the most popular location. A consultation report can be downloaded from the document library on this page.

Stage 2: How can you be involved in the layout and design of the BMX track?

Now that the location is determined, we are seeking community involvement in the layout and design of the BMX track.

A face to face consultation will occur in Alfredton on 9th December from 5-6pm. The consultation is inviting youth aged 10-18 to participate. Due to COVID restrictions the number of participants on site is limited to 20. To attend the consultation in person, please register via: https://bit.ly/3o7rZ05

Once you have registered you will be provided with venue details. Input into BMX track layout and design can also be provided online until 9th December, 11.59pm via: https://bit.ly/2Jpxt7r

Using ideas and feedback gathered during stage 2, a concept design will be developed and shared with the community by 16th December.

You can also follow this project by clicking the stay informed button and subscribing for updates. Alternatively check in with City of Ballarat Youth Services via Facebook or Instagram @ballaratyouthservices.

Please Note: The final location for the BMX track within the Alfredton Recreation Reserve site will be determined by Council Officers in line with appropriate site considerations and guidelines as determined within the Ballarat Skate and Youth Activities framework. Community feedback from stage 1 consultation will also be considered.
