What's happening?

A BMX track / pump track will be built in Alfredton.

It is planned for construction of the BMX track to be complete by June 2021 and funding for this project will be provided by Council.

As part of an audit of community infrastructure the Alfredton BMX project has been fast tracked. This is in response to community need and to align with timings of other upgrades currently being delivered in Alfredton. The need for the project was identified in the Skate and Tween/Teen facilities framework.

Stage 1: Completed

The first stage of the project was to identify a location. Community members were encouraged to vote for their preferred location from a list of potential sites.

Alfredton Recreation Reserve was the most popular location. The track location will be at the front of the Alfredton Recreation Reserve in the open space near the playground. The consultation report can be downloaded from the document library on this page.

Please Note: The final location for the BMX track within the Alfredton Recreation Reserve site will be determined by Council Officers in line with appropriate site considerations and guidelines as determined within the Ballarat Skate and Youth Activities framework. Community feedback from stage 1 consultation will also be considered.

Stage 2: Completed. Design and layout consultation

Two consultation sessions were held on 9th and 16th December 2020. 27 people attended the sessions and provided input into elements they would like to see included in the design. 14 people completed the online survey to provide their feedback.

Next steps: Common Ground are working up the final designs for presentation in February 2021.

You can follow this project by clicking the stay informed button and subscribing for updates. Alternatively check in with City of Ballarat Youth Services via Facebook or Instagram @ballaratyouthservices.

Stage 3: Completed. Concept design in development

Final plan for Alfredton BMX/Pump track is now completed. Please see the plan below and as PDF in the document library.

The design was developed by Common Ground with input from the community and Council Officers at community consultation sessions and via surveys.

Project delivery (track construction) to commence in March 2021.
