Update: 10/08/2023 Consultation has now closed and we thank you for your input

New Update:  1/5/2023

We are arranging a further consultation to attract a broad group of the community across the municipality and cover diverse voices. We would appreciate your continued support, and invite you to come along and share your views of what is significant in Ballarat

You can have your say by attending an in-person workshop in:

  • Ballarat Town Hall (Trench Room) on Tuesday, 30th May 5:30pm-7:30pm.

The City of Ballarat is developing a Thematic Environmental History to understand the themes that have shaped the City of Ballarat, our buildings, industry services, communities and social activities. This will include a review of the current extent of the Heritage Overlay and associated policiesas well as assess new heritage precincts and individually significant places for inclusion in the scheme. An up to date Thematic Environmental History will be critical to providing strategic context for historical significance when undertaking this work.

This project is the first stage of an extensive Heritage Gaps and Policy Review in the Ballarat Planning Scheme undertaken by the City of Ballarat over the next several years. The Ballarat Planning Scheme is a statutory mechanism that manages development across the municipality.

As part of this project, we would like to hear from you to understand the unique and special history of Ballarat. Your knowledge, experiences, stories and memories are valuable in developing an inclusive history.
