We want your feedback on the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) 2021-2025.

Under the Domestic Animals Act (1994), Council is required to prepare and implement a Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) every four years. Utilising relevant community responses and feedback from the "Ballarat: Our Future" engagement (Feb 2021-April 2021), City of Ballarat has created a draft DAMP, the objective of which is to outline Council's plans for animal management.

The aims of the new plan include:

  • Design and construct a new sustainable regional animal shelter and enable interaction programs with the community at the Shelter
  • Increase community education and knowledge of the principles of responsible pet ownership, and
  • Proactively enforce Animal Welfare and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and compliance under the Domestic Animals Act (1994)

A copy of the plan can be found here, or by clicking the link to the right of this page.

Submissions close 17 September, 2021.
