Let's Chat Ballarat Expo 2026: What we heard

Over two days, around 600 community members attended the Expo, connecting with staff from 28 Council services and projects.

What we heard

Community members told us they valued:

  • The opportunity to speak directly with Council staff and ask questions face-to-face
  • The friendly and welcoming atmosphere
  • Staff being approachable, knowledgeable and open to feedback
  • Learning more about Council services, projects and decision-making
  • The Expo as a positive way for Council to engage with the community

The Expo received an average rating of 4.6 out of 5, and participants rated its contribution to improving community engagement 8 out of 10.

What worked well

You told us you enjoyed:

  • Having real conversations with Council staff
  • The vibrant atmosphere, displays and activities
  • Opportunities for children and young people to get involved and learn about local government

What could be improved

We also heard opportunities to improve future events, including:

  • Reviewing event timing and exploring different session options
  • Improving accessibility, including parking and accessible parking
  • Strengthening promotion and awareness of the event
  • Making it easier for people to provide feedback
