Review of Mayor and Councillor Allowances

Consultation has concluded

In accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989, written submissions are invited from members of the public in regard to the Council’s proposal to set the Mayoral and Councillor Allowances.

1. The allowances are as follows:

a. Councillor allowance: $31,444 per annum

b. Mayoral allowance: $100, 434 per annum


2. The following equivalent of the Superannuation Guarantee Contribution for 2021 is proposed to be made:

a. Councillor: $2,987.18 per annum

b. Mayor: $9,541.23 per annum

Written submissions may be made, addressed to the Executive Manager Governance and Risk, by either:


· Using the 'Make a Submission' form at the bottom of this page,

· Via mail, sent to PO Box 655 Ballarat Vic 3353, or

· Email to governance@ballarat.vic.gov.au

and clearly marked “Review of Mayoral and Councillor Allowances”.


Please advise in your submission if you wish to support your submission in person at the Council Meeting.

Submissions must be received before 9.00 am on Tuesday 8 June 2021.

Council will consider all submissions regarding this matter at an Unscheduled Meeting of Council to be held at 6.30pm, Wednesday 9 June 2021 in the Council Chamber, Town Hall.
