The Draft City of Ballarat Resource Recovery and Waste Management Strategy 2018-22 (the Draft Strategy) considers current and future waste management and resource recovery in the City of Ballarat. It identifies long-term strategic direction including a clear vision and four objectives that align with Regional and State objectives. It also identifies targets to be achieved over the next five years and management options to help meet those targets.     The waste management hierarchy is the underlying principle of waste management policies in Australia and is included in the Environment Protection Act 1970. It establishes the order of preference for waste management and underpins development of the Draft Strategy.
