The Wendouree Library and Learning Centre will be more than just a building — it will be a place of community pride. A space for learning, connection, support and local storytelling.

Wendouree West is home to a strong and resilient community. While the area faces some of Ballarat’s biggest challenges — including higher-than-average unemployment, an ageing population, and intergenerational disadvantage — it also has one of the city’s strongest community spirits.

That spirit has shaped the area before. Weeramar Park, the proposed site for the new library, was developed in part through the Neighbourhood Renewal Program — a successful community-led initiative that showed what can be achieved when residents work together with Council and government partners.

We want this new library to continue that legacy.

This will be a library designed with and for the people of Wendouree. Not just a Council project, but a community space where people can learn, grow, and come together. A space that reflects the strength, diversity and future vision of this neighbourhood.

As part of this engagement, we’re inviting local residents to help us tell the story of why this project matters.

You can join the campaign by finishing one of the sentences below:

“We need a new library in Wendouree to…”
“We’d love a new library in Wendouree to…”

These short statements, stories, or drawings will help bring community voices into the conversation — and support our call for funding partnerships across all levels of government.

Your voice will help shape this shared vision.
