All the information that the public provided through the conversation kits was given to young people at the Biodiversity Youth Forum. Please see the video below:



The City of Ballarat will now work on the draft strategy and will update the community when it is due to go before Council for adoption. We thank everyone that took the time to contribute. 


Help shape the Ballarat Biodiversity Strategy! Your feedback will help us to better manage and restore our region's natural environment.


Biodiversity Young People's Forum on Saturday 21 October 2023. Our youngest community members will work together to identify priority areas for the next five years to improve the health and variety of our ecosystems. If you are aged between 15 and 25, you can register here.

For the next month, you can get involved and share with us how you think we can improve the health of our plants and animals in the natural environment.


The City of Ballarat has worked with the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung Traditional Owners on a Biodiversity Conversation Kit to help guide your conversations with family, friends, community groups, and colleagues.


Many conversations are taking place between Traditional Owners, community organisations, land and water managers, City of Ballarat Councillors and staff. All groups are working together to find priorities for the strategy.


You can get involved by:

  • We would also love to see your photos of your favourite place in the Ballarat region that is your idea of a healthy environment.
  • Pin your favourite place in the natural environment

All ideas about improving the health of our natural environment need to be submitted by Sunday 15 October at 5pm. 

What happens next

We are currently seeking feedback from all of our community.

After we have received your feedback, we will be taking it to the Biodiversity Young People's Forum on Saturday 21 October 2023. Our youngest community members will work together to identify priority areas for the next five years to improve the health and variety of our ecosystems.
