Help the Lions Club of Buninyong - Mount Helen choose a spot for outdoor fitness equipment in De Soza Park.

De Soza Park runs along Union Jack Creek in central Buninyong, with walking tracks on both sides of the creek.

The Lions Club of Buninyong - Mount Helen is planning to fund three pieces of outdoor exercise equipment, for the community to use, at the park.

The fitness equipment is aimed at activating the park as well as providing health benefits to locals and park visitors. It is supported by the De Soza Park Masterplan developed from consultation with the community in 2015.

Fitness equipment at Lake Wendouree

The City of Ballarat is asking the community to help select the location of the equipment on behalf of the Lions Club. This will also help raise awareness about the club's contribution to the local community.

Following the outcome of this survey, the Lions Club will consider the feedback and seek funding to supply and install the equipment as soon as possible. The fitness equipment will be similar to that recently installed at Lake Wendouree.

At the De Soza location, the equipment will be set within some naturalised landscaping to include seating logs, stonesnative grasses and plantings.

Have Your Say

To help the Lions Club select a location, please fill in the poll at the bottom of this page. Engagement will be open for four weeks closing 5pm on Monday, 16 October 2023.

Two options have been identified for the fitness equipment:

Option A - Three pieces of outdoor fitness located in a cluster near Warrenheip Street, close to the existing play ground and toilets. This is the most cost effective outcome and is the preferred location of the Lions Club.

Option B - One piece of equipment at three separate locations along the walking track and watercourse. This option may be subject to cultural heritage considerations.
