Your feedback is helping shape the future of shared e-scooters and e-bikes in Ballarat

7 November 2025

Between 30 July and 25 August 2025, Council invited the community to share their experiences and views on shared e-scooters and e-bikes.

Since December 2021, Ballarat has taken part in the Victorian Government’s shared e-scooter trial, with Neuron Mobility operating under a Local Laws permit. Your feedback will help Council decide whether to continue allowing shared e-scooters and e-bikes in Ballarat, and identify ways to improve safety, accessibility, and community experience.

What we heard

  • More than 440 people shared their views.
  • About three in ten had used an e-scooter or e-bike; seven in ten hadn’t but still offered feedback based on what they see in the community.
  • Positives: more transport choice, affordable, and helps reduce short car trips.
  • Concerns: unsafe riding behaviour, scooters on footpaths, and impacts on pedestrian safety.

What’s next:

Community feedback will be reviewed alongside usage and safety data to help prepare a report for Councillors. This report will include recommendations for the future of shared e-scooters and e-bikes in Ballarat and will be considered at an upcoming Council Meeting.

You can view the full Summary Engagement Report here or head to the Shared Micromobility Review page.
