Neighbourhood Parks Improvements Program

A sincere 'Thank You' to all who helped to shape their local park by participating in the community engagement for the Neighbourhood (Small) Parks Improvements Program. There was a great result with nearly 150 individuals providing feedback on the draft designs for the identified reserves. All feedback has been reviewed and used to shape the design outcome.

Given the volume of responses, not every suggestion could be integrated into the final design outcome. The Engagement Feedback document provides discussion on what was included and what wasn't providing the reasons behind each outcome.

We have reached a final design outcome for 10 of the reserves. This means that we can now begin implementing these changes. We will break the tender and construction of the reserves into two groups to allow for competitive market tender.

Group 1 -

Council has engaged a contractor with works expected to commence in December 2023 at Cuthberts Road and College Street Reserves. Works at Hearn Road, Horsham Crescent and Vale Street Reserves to commence in summer 2024 with planting to take place in autumn. During construction you may notice that areas of the reserve are fenced off. This is to allow for a safe construction site and to restrict access to maintain public safety.

Reserves that fall into this group are:

College Street Reserve (College Street, Wendouree).
Cuthberts Road Reserve (Cuthberts Road, Alfredton).
Hearn Road Reserve (Cnr of Hearn Road & Ditchfield Road, Brown Hill).
Horsham Crescent Reserve (Horsham Crescent, Alfredton).
Vale Street Reserve (Vale Street, Alfredton).

Group 2 and Group 3

Tender will be advertised later in 2023 with construction expected in 2024.

Inkerman Gully Reserve (Simpson Street, Ballarat North).
Glenvale Road Reserve (Cnr Glenvale Rd and Mansfield Avenue, Mt Clear).
Peel Street Park (Cnr of Peel, Chisholm Street and Nicholson Street, Black Hill).
Webb Avenue Reserve (Webb Avenue, Ballarat East).
Shaw Avenue Reserve (Cnr of Shaw Avenue and Cromwell Street, Wendouree).
Hermitage Avenue Reserve (Cnr Hermitage Avenue and Hocking Avenue, Mt Clear).
Orchard Estate Reserve (Apple Orchard Drive, Brown Hill).
